Caleb University Shut Over Students Protest

Following the outrageous students protest which has left properties worth million of naira being damaged, authorities of the Caleb University, Imota, Lagos State on Thursday has shut the institution.

The protesting students on Wednesday evening damaged properties worth millions of naira. It was gathered that the students, who were protesting against what they called “strict rules”, smashed the glasses of no fewer than four cars.

They also damaged several properties belonging to the school. Sources said the pandemonium was caused by an altercation between a Muslim student and a porter of one of the school's hostel.



The school official was said to have disrupted the Muslim male student of the institution from praying in the school premises which is against the rule of the institution. The action didn't go well and led to them gathering and singing solidarity songs, asking for freedom to worship, later launched an attack on the official and destroyed properties of the institution.

Vice-Chancellor of the institution Prof. Ayo Olukoju, however announced the closure on today Thursday 15th of May. He admitted that the action of the students prompted the “temporal vacation”.
