How To Apply For Unilag Postgraduate Hostel Accommodation

I have been bombarded with questions from the newly admitted Unilag Postgraduate students who are curious to know how to apply and go about the Unilag Postgraduate Hostel Accommodation.

As at the time of posting this news (12:08 pm, Tuesday10th of June 2014) the Unilag School of Postgraduate Studies has not issued any official statement as regards the procedure to apply for the 2013/2014 Unilag Postgraduate Hostel Accommodation.

I have therefore decided to dig deep into the research terrain to bring you the hostel application procedure as used in the previous sessions. In which I believe this year is not going to be an exception. Read below: continue....

PROCEDURES FOR UNILAG POSTGRADUATE HOSTEL ACCOMMODATION

Postgraduate students on full-Time Programme who wish to stay in the hall of residence should note the following:

Hostel accommodation is allocated online; each qualified applicant selects his/her room online on the basis of first come, first served.

Male Master's students who have fully paid their fees and have been successfully screened by the Postgraduate School are eligible to compete online for Block A and the Ground Floor of Block C of Henry Carr Hall.

Female Master's students who have fully paid their fees and have been successfully screened by the Postgraduate School are eligible to compete online for Ground Floor and First Floor of Block B of Henry Carr Hall.

All M.Phil/Ph.D students seeking hostel accommodation must produce evidence of registration and payment of full fees since the year of admission.

All M.Phil/Ph.D students who have stayed in the hostel for five sessions are not eligible for accommodation

Female M.Phil/Ph.D students who have fully paid their fees and have been successfully screened by the Postgraduate School are eligible to compete online for the Second Floor of Erastus Akingbola Hall and the Second Floor of Block B of Henry Carr Hall.

Male M.Phil/Ph.D students who have fully paid their fees and have been successfully screened by the Postgraduate School are eligible to compete online for the Ground Floor, First Floor and Third Floor of Erastus Akingbola Hall, and the First and the Second Floors of Block C of Henry Carr Hall.

Each of the rooms for the Master's students are to be occupied by two qualified Master's students.

The rooms for the M.Phil/Ph.D students may be occupied by one or two qualified students each.

Upon successful online selection of a hostel space or room, all applicants are given a maximum of seventy two hours to pay the accommodation fee, the evidence of which must be presented to the Welfare Officer at the Postgraduate School for the issuance of necessary clearance papers that will enable the applicants to move into the halls of residence. After seventy two hours, the space will be up for re-allocation.

Applicants should ensure that the evidence of payment of accommodation fee taken to the Welfare Officer must be accompanied by evidence of up to date payment of school fees right from the time of admission.

Payments should be made through any of the Unilag branches of the following banks: UBA, WEMA, First Bank and Intercontinental Bank, ECO Bank.

For any applicant to be deemed duly allocated into the hall of residence, he/she must have collected, filled and signed all the required documents.

And most importantly, Keep in touch with my updates in case there's any latest development and to know when the Online Competition for accommodation will commence.
