The Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Rahamon Bello, told news men in Lagos that there would be an award of first and higher degrees, diploma, certificates as well as prize giving. continue.....

Mr. Bello, a professor, said 482 students would be graduating from the Faculty of Arts, 535 from Business Administration and 246 from Environmental Sciences.
He said that 209 others were from the Faculty of Law, while 141, 420, 344, 655 and 493 others would come from the faculties of Pharmacy, Education, Engineering, Social Sciences and Sciences, respectively.

The Vice Chancellor said that 415 others would be graduating from the College of Medicine, comprising the Faculties of Basic Medical Sciences, Clinical Sciences and Dental Sciences.
According to him, the Distance Learning Institute (DLI) would be graduating 968 students, while the School of Post Graduate Studies would graduate 4,821.

He gave the breakdown of those to be admitted to higher degrees as 335 for Postgraduate Diploma, 4,380 for Master’s Degree, one for Master of Philosophy and 105 for Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).

The vice-chancellor said that the 52-year-old institution was determined to continue producing quality graduates that could compete favourably with their counterparts in any part of the world.

Mr. Bello said that among other activities lined up during the ceremony was inauguration of projects crucial to effective teaching and research.

“We shall be commissioning the Central Research Laboratory Building donated by Dr Daniel Olukoya, the General Overseer of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministry and an alumnus of the university.

However, there has been speculations that there will be no celebration in terms of the normal elaborate party where the families and guests of graduating students sit down under tents to wine and dine after the formal convocation whatever at the Multipurpose Hall. I'm still trying to find out how true is this anyway.
