Organizer of Miss Unilag 2014 'Sulcata Ent' lashes out at 'SaharaReporters' over false reports

Earlier this morning, I received a mail from Sulcata Entertainment (Organizer of the just concluded Miss Unilag 2014) refuting a claim made by Sahara Reporters in one of the recent posts on its platform, concerning the 2014 Miss Unilag pageant. Read below the press release by Sulcata Entertainment...

URGENT UPDATE: There has been a conscious attempt directed towards tarnishing and frustrating the efforts of the Entertainment company that organized the just concluded Miss Unilag 2014.

PLEASE NOTE:: Sulcata Entertainment was responsible for the purchase and delivery of the CAR to the winner Miss Damilare Babajide Uche, a 400level student of Law, University of Lagos.

The D.S.A and other members of the school administration only
1) Gave Sulcata Entertainment the right to organize Miss Unilag 2014.
2) Officially presented the gifts to the winners of the pageant.
3) Endorsed the concept knowing that it is poised towards empowering the youths

The gifts were made possible through the kind gesture of our sponsors who became our back bone, the likes of WOODIN, TECNO, REDBULL & ZARON.

Finally, Miss Unilag 2014 winner "Damilare Babajide" was rewarded with the star prize of a CAR which was provided by the pageant organisers "SULCATA ENTERTAINMENT" not the University of Lagos Management as against the reports being made by "SaharaReporters" while in comparison to the gift awarded to the debate winner. It Is wrong to paint an untrue and unclear picture, making the University seem like it celebrates social activities over educational activities.

Sulcata Entertainment is primarily an entertainment outfit geared towards youth empowerment. Our events are usually one that helps take youths to a higher level by exposing, influencing and helping them maximize potential. It is wrong to even think that our pageant brand is just about beauty, it is a contest with the true test of Beauty + Brains. We can proudly brag about all the queens we have produced, from Violet Olisah (Miss Unilag 2011), Ajoke Badmus (Miss Lasu 2012) to Amanda Omogiafo (Miss Unilag 2013), they all either graduated or currently sit as scholars in their various departments.

Pageantry might have a different meaning to the outside world, but to us at Sulcata Entertainment it is an opportunity to influence, motivate, and capture the hear of the youths through their passion points. And also to crown the most outstanding performer, hence the reason why we tag our pageant brand "WHO IS SHE". To ensure that this is also achieved, we went into partnership with E-Circle Foundation & Yaggy Energie, both are empowerment outfits who took the girls through several programmes that helped them become better individuals. During the course of the event, we had an interview session with some of the contestants and they made their confessions. You will understand our vision better after you watch this video clip http://youtu.be/WIjQOPH_9r0

Any credible media company should investigate and get facts before making posts. And not just make posts detrimental to a brand for selfish reasons.

Well, as for me I can't really blame them, may be they are in the 'Sahara Desert' when the event was taking place..so they don't know..lol.
