Unilag Student Union: Ratification/Adoption of ULSU Draft Constitution


The Constitution Drafting Committee at its meeting held on Thursday, October 23, 2014 considered memoranda submitted by stakeholders and discussed other issues raised on the draft constitution.

After careful deliberation on the issues and necessary corrections made, the Committee DECIDED:

1.To forward corrected copy of the draft constitution to:
a) Presidents of Students Associations of all Faculties,
b) President, College of Medicine & Pharmaceutical Students Association (COMPSA), and
c) President, Distance Learning Institute Students Association (DLISA). continue...


It is to be posted on the notice boards for all students.

2.To hold a Constituent Assembly of all stakeholders to ratify/adopt the draft constitution.

3.That the composition of the Constituent Assembly shall be as follows:
a) All Executives of Faculty Associations
b) All Executives of Departmental Associations
c) All Halls of Residence Executives
d) All Class Representatives/Governors
e) All Presidents of Clubs, Associations, Societies, State Associations and Religious Bodies
f) Observers are also welcome. However they are to obtain clearance from the CDC Secretariat at the Students Affairs Division.

4.At the Constituent Assembly:
a) The Constitution Drafting Committee (CDC) will explain the content  of the draft constitution to the Constituent Assembly;
b) The meeting will be allowed to raise issues and seek clarifications;
c) The CDC will explain, justify, answer questions and rationalize;and
d) The meeting will vote after the exercise, which will be a “yes” or “no” vote.

5.The outcome of the meeting will be forwarded to the University Management.

6.The Constitution Drafting Committee (CDC) hereby invites all groups and individuals listed in item 3 above to the Constituent Assembly Meeting scheduled for Friday, November 7, 2014 at 10.00 a. m. in the Afe-Babalola Hall, UNILAG, Akoka.
