Breaking News: Unilag Hostel Application Portal To Be Reopened Tomorrow

This is to inform Unilag Undergraduate students who are still interested in getting bed space in any of the Undergraduate hostels that it is still possible to get one.

This development is as a result of the revoking of all the unclaimed bed spaces (In every category) as at 4:00 pm on Monday 7th Of April, 2014. And the hostel portal will be reopened tomorrow Friday, 11th of April, 2014, by 1:00 pm precisely.

Jaywon Confirms Leaving Kennis Music

Talented Nigerian singer James Oluwajuwonlo, popularly known as Jaywon has finally spoken on his exit from Kennis music. Although, there has been speculations that the Kogi born music act has not been in good terms with his record label bosses, which in turn led to his exit.

On a contrary, Jaywon in a recent interview, declared that there was no fight between him and his bosses, just that his contract with Kennis music has expired and it is the right time for him to move on.

‘I feel this is the best time for me to actually be on my own. I appreciate Kennis Music and will always do. Kennis did it for me and I’m grateful for that but the thing is my contract expired and I need to move on’.

I actually found a news while surfing the internet, that the President, National Association of Telecommunications Subscribers, Mr Deolu Ogunbanjo while speaking as a guest on Channels TV Sunrise programme yesterday morning, revealed that the telecommunication company, Etisalat fired 2,000 of its workers sometimes last week.

The news of the fired Etisalat workers, touched my deepest within and awoke my writing spirit to express my concerns about this issue. What came to my mind immediately I saw the news was that, 2000 able bodied men and women are being sent back to the unemployment market again after spending so many years in the education system and some years looking for that same job.

Oh well! The study of Urban and Regional Planning is not for the faint hearted, most especially here in Nigeria... lol. Ask my Sister, Mrs Sola Oni, she will tell you the tale of how she migrated from the department of URP in this same University of Lagos to another department a few years ago. (Eni eleni, she can not come and die..lol)

So, the current (Planning Studio Group 3) 300 level students of the department of URP, University of Lagos, went to the streets of Lagos, Oshodi Isolo local government to be precise yesterday Friday, April 4th 2014 to update the Base Map of their studio work for this semester. It was a whole day journey, full of stress and a little bit of fun.

Guess what? My humble self, Tayo Lawal the UnilagHowfar CEO was part of the journey *shine teeth*, am a 300L URP student, and I went together with my wonderful course mates, who are also members of group 3.

A kindergarten teacher has decided to let her class play a game. The teacher told each child in the class to bring along a plastic bag containing a few potatoes. Each potato will be given a name of a person that the child hates, So the number of potatoes that a child will put in his/her plastic bag will depend on the number of people he/she hates.

So when the day came, every child brought some potatoes with the name of the people he/she hated. Some had 2 potatoes; some 3 while some up to 5 potatoes. The teacher then told the children to carry with them the potatoes in the plastic bag wherever they go (even to the toilet) for 1 week. continue.....

Abuh Alidu, a Unilag final year student of the department of Arts And Social Sciences, Faculty of Education was found dead in the pool of his blood along Unilag-Bariga road in the early hours of today Friday, 4th of April, 2014.

The actual cause of his mysterious and untimely death is yet to be revealed.
